The Best Breakfast & Brunch in North Wales
The popularity of meeting for breakfast and brunches has soared in recent years (I like to call it the ‘brunch boom’). Luckily, the eateries of Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy have confidently created some well crafted morning menus.
Here are some of my favourites, which I’m sure many of you will enjoy. Many more can be found on the North Wales Grub Breakfast & Brunch Recommendations guide.
Where to Eat Breakfast in Gwynedd
Blue Sky, Bangor
Tucked away behind Bangor high street is Blue Sky Cafe: A cosy cafe which is very popular with students and locals, and for good reason.
Two of my top pics are the Avocado Smash which is elevated by the additions of Anglesey feta and cashew cream, and the Nduja and Eggs which is served with a permesan hollandaise.
The brunch menu is served 9:30-12:30, alongside the breakfast menu which finishes as 11:30. There's plenty of vegan and veggie options too.
Swellies, Y Felinheli
The Swellies cafe is situated next to the picturesque Felinheli Marina, providing both outdoor seating and a snug indoor area.
As well as the breakfast food being some of the best around the area, the service is always friendly, adding to the laid back atmopshere.
Breakfast currently starts from 10am, with the breakfast baps being served all day.
Caffi Caban, Brynrefail
If you’re familiar with the Llanberis area, you will no doubt be aware of the fantastic Caffi Caban.
The daily food menu is full of comforting yet nourishing options, and the ‘Breakfast Stacks’ are of no exception.
The hearty crusty buttered roll comes with either a choice of 2, 4 or 6 fillings, and a fruit smoothie shot.
The breakfast is available 9am-11.30am.
Just Mary’s, Abersoch
Hidden away from the busy town of Abersoch is Just Mary’s: A family-run cafe with beautiful outdoor seating. The Middle-Eastern inspired cuisine is prominent thoughout the menu, and the array of fresh fruit and vegetables (picked from local farms as well as their own allotment) is present in the brunch menu.
Where to Eat Breakfast on Anglesey
Green Olive Vegan, Menai Bridge
Adding to the collection of great places to eat in Menai Bridge is The Green Olive cafe.
The Green Olive isn’t just a fantastic vegan cafe: It is one of the best places for food in the area. Customers are spoilt for choice with the exceptional breakfast menu which includes a full cooked breakfast (pictured), and homemade pancakes which happen to be some of the best I’ve ever had.
Green Olive is open Friday-Tuesday 9am-5pm.
Notos, Rhosneigr
If you fancy a walk on the beach with your dog and a place to devour a stack of pancakes afterwards, head to Cafe Notos!
Where to Eat Breakfast in Conwy
Cantin Conwy, Conwy
Located in the Conwy Culture Centre is Cantîn Conwy which has been described as a gem of a cafe.
The breakfast menu includes this Brioche French Toast with bacon and maple syrup: A rarity on a North Wales breakfast menu!
Cantîn Conwy is open daily 9am-4pm (10am on Sundays).
Hickory’s Smokehouse, Rhos-On-Sea
For a wholesome American style breakfast, Hickory’s will hit the spot.
The moment you walk into Hickory’s and smell the smoking, I can guarantee you will instantly crave a mountain of food. It’s a fantiastic family-friendly restaurant with a fun atmosphere.
I highly recomment the breakfast muffins with the magic-dusted tater tots, and the pancake stacks with blueberry compote and cream (pictured).
The breakfast and brunch menu is served every day from 11am-2pm.
Providero, Llandudno
If you’re after an everyday breakfast with a wholesome addition, Providero is the place to go.
The breakfast and brunch menu is about quality over quantity: A granola base with optional extras, as well as a selection of sweet and savoury bagel fillings. The Loaded Porridge is served with yoghurt, berry compote, pecans and maple syrup which is a sure fire way to set you up for the day.
Provideo opens at 8:30am, and is situated on Mostyn Street in Llandudno so is easy to find.
